Which should you buy?
If a third-party mount matches the 1.5" thread and your install, you get the same physical fit — and on our mounts the thread is built in, so there's no second purchase. Buy OEM when you want Starlink's own part number.
What is genuinely the same either way
The dish side is identical, and that is the part people worry about most. Starlink's Standard and Mini both end in a 1.5" pipe thread; official and third-party mounts are both built to meet it. Fit at that interface is not the variable — it is the reason a well-made third-party bracket works at all.
The real differences are elsewhere. Surface coverage: official hardware is designed around a narrower set of install scenarios, while third-party brackets often exist precisely to cover a roof or wall type the official line does not. Kit contents: what fixings and sealant come in the box varies more between products than between official and not. And support: who you ring when it does not fit.
There is one official accessory worth understanding properly, because it is the one most often sold unnecessarily: the pipe adapter. You need it when the pole or mast you are attaching to is not 1.5" — a different diameter, or old satellite hardware. You do not need it for a mount that already carries the thread, which is why our roof kit, wall bracket and tripod do not require one.
